The Tridents lost their top three for just eight runs but Kyle Mayers (37 off 20) and Jason Holder (38 off 22) added 61 runs in only 29 balls for the 4th wicket. Santner and Rashid took two wickets apiece later on and contained the Patriots from scoring big. Despite an unbeaten 41 from Joshua da Silva, the Patriots fell seven runs short of the target.
All the statistical highlights from Barbados Tridents’ close win against the SKN Patriots:
A narrow win for Tridents:
6 – The Barbados Tridents’ 6-run win in this match is their 2nd narrowest in the CPL history. They defeated Jamaica Tallawahs by two runs in the 2018 season while defending a 157-run target.
The 6-run margin is also the 2nd narrowest defeat in terms of runs for the Patriots in CPL. They lost to Jamaica by five runs while chasing a target of 154 in the 2018 edition.
Santner and Rashid save Tridents:
3 – Mitchell Santner (20; 2/18) and Rashid Khan (26*; 2/27) are only the 3rd pair to score 20+ runs and pick 2+ wickets in the same CPL match. Ben Cutting (25*; 2/43) and Carlos Brathwaite (41; 2/19) for the SKN Patriots during the 2018 season against Trinbago Knight Riders were the first such pair in the league.
The Barbados pair of Ashley Nurse (24*; 2/14) and Raymon Reifer (24*; 2/13) also recorded it against the TKR during the 2nd Qualifier of 2019.
Worst top-order performance for Tridents:
7 – The top three batsmen of Barbados Tridents collectively scored seven runs in this match. These are the joint 4th least runs aggregated by any team’s top three in a CPL match. This is also the first time where a top three of Barbados had collectively scored 15 or fewer runs in a CPL game.
However, the 15 balls Barbados’ top three together batted in this match are their 2nd fewest in a CPL match. The top three batters of Tridents lasted only 14 balls scoring 25 runs in 2013 after bowling out the Trinidad franchise for a mere 52.
Rashid plays a handy knock:
26* – Rashid Khan’s unbeaten 26 in this match is the 3rd highest individual score in the CPL by a batsman while batting at No.10 or lower position. Samuel Badree scored an unbeaten 29 off 16 balls in the 2015 edition while batting at No.4 for the Trinidad franchise against Jamaica Tallawahs.
Dominic Drakes scored an unbeaten 34 while batting at No.11 for the SKN Patriots against Barbados Tridents in the last edition. It is also the only 30+ score in T20 cricket by a player batting at No.11.
A record stand for the Tridents:
25* – The unbeaten partnership of 25 runs between Rashid Khan and Hayden Walsh Jr. is now the highest 10th wicket partnership for the Barbados Tridents in the CPL. Their previous highest 10th wicket stand was 19 between Raymon Reifer and Ravi Rampaul against Jamaica Tallawahs in the 2016 edition.
Ramdin goes past Gayle:
77 – Denesh Ramdin became the most capped player in the history of CPL by going past Chris Gayle’s 76 appearances in the league. Tuesday’s match was Ramdin’s 77th appearance in the history of the league. Rayad Emrit currently shares the 2nd spot with Gayle as the match against Tridents was his 76th in CPL.
Emrit @ 150:
151 – Rayad Emrit completed 150 wickets in the Twenty20 format with the first of his two wickets on Tuesday. Emrit, the captain of SKN Patriots, has claimed 87 of those in the CPL itself.
