The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have already qualified for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) playoffs with victories in all their six matches. TKR would be delighted for the fact that despite not having their big guns, Sunil Narine and Dwayne Bravo, they managed to turn over the Barbados Tridents. Kieron Pollard and Co are next scheduled to play against Jamaica Tallawahs on Tuesday.

The Knights came out trumps by seven wickets in their last meeting. More than TKR, the Tallawahs would be desperate for a victory as they are hanging midway in the points table. They are coming off a 37-run win over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Another triumph for the Tallawahs would get them levelled with the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who are currently placed third in the points table.

Pitch and Conditions

The first 10 games of the CPL took place at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. The pitch here has been a sporting one and both the batters and bowlers have reaped benefits out of them. Chasing should be the way forward. There are chances of rain with thunderstorms and hence, there could be interruptions. The temperature will be around 30 degrees Celsius with the humidity in 70s.

Playing Combinations

Jamaica Tallawahs

The Tallawahs have mostly depended on Glenn Phillips at the top of the order. The New Zealander has 207 runs at an average of 41.40 with a couple of fifties to show for his efforts. But the rest of the batters are yet to be consistent. They will need to put their best foot forward in the business end.

Asif Ali has 102 runs to his name. The Tallawahs strength has been their bowling. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Sandeep Lamichhane have 22 wickets at an economy of 4.35. Mujeeb, individually, has an economy rate of 3.87. Fidel Edwards and Carlos Brathwaite have seven wickets each as well.

Kieron Pollard gave an account of what he can do. With a strike-rate of 206.25 and 132 runs, he many promote himself up the order. Lendl Simmons’ form has been concerning. In bowling, Khary Pierre has been economical and so is Fawad Ahmed. Jayden Seales has six wickets to his name.
