The 29th match of the CPL 2020 is scheduled to be played between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders, on 6th September, at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. This encounter is the second last game of the league stage as the teams will now move in towards the decisive semifinals followed by the final clash.

The Trinbago Knight Riders, in all, probability, will end up with a perfect 10 wins and 20 points after the league stage. Their run this year has been one for ages to remember. Historical, to say the least. Match after match, they have grown stronger as a unit and every single player has chipped in with their contribution. They scripted their 9th successive victory in their last encounter against St Lucia Zouks.

The Riders shone with the bat again as they posted another high score, by this year’s standards, courtesy a brilliant show by their middle order and specifically skipper Kieron Pollard’s 21-ball 42 that included 3 sixes and as many fours. Darren Bravo had a quiet tournament before the last game but he ensured to get himself flowing through a solid half-century before his team heads into the next stage. Pollard shone with the ball too as he bagged 3 wickets alongside Jayden Seales and the Dwayne Bravo, who both got 2 each. The Zouks were restricted at 152 for 7 as Riders won the game by a comfortable margin of 23 runs.

The Patriots, on the other hand, have also had a historical tournament, just that it is the opposite of their opponents today. Having lost a 7 of their 9 encounters, they are located at the last spot in the points tally with barely anything to show. The last time these two teams met, the Riders handed the Patriots a crushing defeat by 59 runs. Their last match against Jamaica Tallawahs was washed out after 5.4 overs due to steady rain. For the first time, the Patriots looked in control as Evin Lewis and Chris Lynn got off to flying start and added 46 for the first wicket before the rain arrived and played spoilsport.

Pitch and conditions

The track in Trinidad has not shown a lot of demons in the day encounters. The spinners have been gained immense success this entire season and they will be in play again. The new ball will give a bit to the pacers but it is the spinners who will dominate. The Riders have not faced any problems and they have continued to score big runs despite other teams failing.

Playing Combinations

Trinbago Knight Riders

Lendl Simmons will be seen in action alongside either Tion Webster, who played a small cameo in the last game, or Chris Lynn, who was rested. Tim Seifert was promoted to No. 3 and he looked good for his 33-run knock. Darren Bravo batted vigilantly in his 42-ball 50 and it appeared that he wanted to get some runs behind his back before the semifinal clash. Kieron Pollard, quite deservedly, won the Man of the Match award for his wonderful exploits with both bat and ball.

Their star performer Sunil Narine, however, missed the last game and he might come in at the expense of Sikandar Raza, who went wicket-less after bagging 3 wickets in the game against the Patriots. All three in Akeal Hosein, Kharry Pierre, and Fawad Ahmed went wicket-less, however Jayden Seales bagged a couple. Any change in this slot looks unlikely.

Predicted XI- Lendl Simmons, Tion Webster/Colin Munro, Tim Seifert, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Sikandar Raza/Sunil Narine, Dwayne Bravo, Akeal Hosein, Kharry Pierre, Fawad Ahmed, Jaydon Seales

Bench- Colin Munro/Tion Webster, Sunil Narine/Sikandar Raza, Pravin Tambe, Anderson Phillip

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots

After multiple failed outings, the opening duo of Chris Lynn and Evin Lewis looked flowing when they added 46 against the Tallawahs in the abandoned encounter. Joshua da Silva has had quite a few okay outings and he will continue at No.3. Denesh Ramdin and Ben Dunk will form the middle-order alongside Colin Archibald, who did not play a match for them before the last encounter.

Skipper Rayad Emrit can be happy for his personal performance at least as the team has not given him any reasons to celebrate. Sohail Tanvir could make his way back in the last game in place of Alazarri Joseph, whereas Imran Khan, Sheldon Cottrell, Jon-Russ Jaggesar are expected to be the other bowlers.

Predicted XI- Evin Lewis, Chris Lynn, Joshua Da Silva, Ben Dunk, Denesh Ramdin, Colin Archibald, Rayad Emrit, Alzarri Joseph/Sohail Tanvir, Imran Khan, Sheldon Cottrell, Jon-Russ Jaggesar

Bench- Ish Sodhi, Kieran Powell, Colin Archibald/Sohail Tanvir, Jahmar Hamilton, Dominic Drakes
