Roston Chase has had a decent campaign thus far in the 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He is currently representing the St Lucia Zouks, the underachievers of the T20 league. However, this time around, the Zouks have managed to turn their fortunes around to a large extent and Chase has played an important role in their turnaround thus far in the tournament.

In six matches, he is their leading run-scorer with 156 runs at an average of 39 with a couple of half-centuries to show for his efforts. Though he has played a strike-rate of 117.29, he has managed to lend stability to the Zouks’ batting unit. Chase is a key member of the West Indies ODI and Test teams and he has brought forward all his experience of playing at the highest level.

Roston Chase trying his heart out

Even with the ball in hand, Chase hasn’t flattered to deceive. He has five wickets until now at an excellent economy rate of five. In the first three games, he picked the five scalps, conceding only 20 runs. It goes without saying that the batters have found it tough to get him away. However, amidst some stupendous cricket, Chase also has had to go through some rough period.

In one of the games, he copped a blow on his private parts. He was winding up for the pull, but ended up, getting beaten by the lack of pace. He was through his shot when the ball arrived and he played all around it. To his sheer relief, he evaded a major accident. If Chase gets injured, it could be a massive blow for the team going into the business end of the T20 league.

The Zouks are currently placed second on the points table after Trinbago Knight Riders, who are sitting pretty with victories in all their five matches. In their previous game, the Zouks beat the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by six wickets at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad. Daren Sammy and Co are next set to play against the Barbados Tridents on Sunday, August 30.
