All CPL matches will be streamed live on Twitter

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) has got underway with two matches already done and dusted. The ongoing edition will now be streamed live on Twitter as it has become the first T20 league ever to do so. They have collaborated with the Twitter and the followers will be able to watch all the matches of the tournament on the social media platform now in as many as 54 countries.

In India, Star is broadcasting the tournament and the Indian fans will also be able to watch over 150 highlight video clips from the league courtesy an in-stream sponsorhip collaboration with CPL and its sponsors as well. Interestingly, the fans will also be able to have their say in the comments section when the match is in progress on Twitter.

We’re excited to offer something unique

Aneesh Madani, Twitter’s Head of Sports Partnerships, Asia Pacific, made the announcement and was excited to offer something new and unique to the cricket lovers on the social media platform.

“The global, public conversation around cricket happens on Twitter and we’re thrilled to team up with CPL to add live-streamed cricket to that experience for fans in 54 countries. Together, we’re excited to offer cricket fans a unique experience to take in the games, highlight video clips and the conversation, all in one place on Twitter,” he was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The six-franchise tournament has witnessed a couple of one-sided matches so far. The defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) began their season on a high with a huge victory by 100 runs over St Lucia Stars. The second match, however, was a decent one with Chris Gayle living up to the expectations.

He smashed 86 runs off just 65 balls on the back of which St Kitts Nevis and Patriots scored 146 runs after 20 overs. But Shimron Hetmyer of Guyana made sure that it was an under-par total with a scintillating knock.
