Rohit Sharma played a blazing innings of 46* off 20 with four fours and as many maximums while spinner Axar Patel took 2/13 in two overs as India chased down the target of 91 with four balls to spare in the second T20I that got reduced to eight-overs per side due to wet outfield. Skipper Rohit led the side from the front as he stayed unbeaten right till the end to snatch a six-wicket victory and level the series 1-1 in Nagpur.

Speaking about how the delayed encounter panned out, India won the toss and opted to field first. Player of the Match from the last clash, Cameron Green got run-out for just five while Glenn Maxwell bagged his first golden duck in T20Is. Hard-hitter Tim David also went cheaply for just two as Axar Patel got rid of him and Maxwell in a similar fashion bowled.

Captain Aaron Finch looked in fine touch as he scored 31 off 15 before getting clean bowled by the returning India speedster Jasprit Bumrah. It was Matthew Wade yet again who came back to haunt the hosts with him smashing an unbeaten 43 off just 20. The Aussies reached a total of 90/5 in eight overs courtesy of a destructive innings from wicketkeeper-batter Wade.

Chasing 91, Rohit gave his side a stunning start with the skipper hitting the Aussie bowlers all around the park. Spinner Adam Zampa threatened the Indian innings as he took three big wickets of KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav to end his brilliant spell of 3/16 in two overs.

While Rohit hung in there, Dinesh Karthik came and struck ten off just two to seal the deal for the Men in Blue. With this, the series is now leveled 1-1 and the decider now takes place on Sunday, September 25, 2022, in Hyderabad. For his match-winning captain’s knock, Rohit Sharma grabbed the Player of the Match award.
