Though Mumbai have endured a topsy-turvy season, the side will look to give their best shot against Lucknow and book a spot in the Qualifier 2. A thrilling clash awaits as both teams will look to obtain favourable results and move ahead in the competition in Wednesday’s blockbuster Eliminator.

Here’s Lucknow Super Giants’ predicted XI against Mumbai Indians:

Openers: Quinton de Kock (wk), Kyle Mayers

Wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock displayed glimpses of aggressive hitting in his first match of the season when he got 70 runs against Gujarat Titans. However, the southpaw has failed to remain consistent and will need to work on this aspect if they are to beat Mumbai in the crucial Eliminator match.

The explosive Caribbean southpaw Kyle Mayers is likely to feature in the XI against MI ahead of Karan Sharma. The management will hope for the opening duo of Mayers and de Kock to fire in tandem to hand a solid head start in the Eliminator.

Middle Order: Nicholas Pooran, Prerak Mankad

Nicholas Pooran once again displayed his lethal hitting exploits against KKR as he clobbered 58 off 30, which steered the side to attain a competitive total. His blazing knock featured five sixes and four boundaries at a marvellous strike rate of 193.33.

At 3, Prerak Mankad has the potential to get the required runs and raise important partnerships. However, he failed in the previous match as he got mere 26 off 20 in the last game. In any case, he will aim for an improved outing by playing a big innings in their next outing.

All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis, Krunal Pandya (c)

The all-rounder pair of Marcus Stoinis and skipper Krunal Pandya suffered a poor outing with the bat against Kolkata. While Stoinis was sent packing for a second-ball duck, Krunal followed the suit after scoring nine off eight balls.

However, the skipper redeemed himself with the ball as he got the prized scalp of Jason Roy and concluded his four overs with 30 runs at a decent economy of 7.50. Both Stoinis and Krunal will need to be on point in the forthcoming game in order to avoid an elimination against Mumbai and put their best foot forward.

Bowlers: Amit Mishra, Yash Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Avesh Khan

The LSG think tank could likely make a few changes in the bowling unit from the previous game against the Knight Riders. Mohsin Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq could be excluded from the setup and Yudhvir Singh Charak and Avesh Khan could make their way into the XI.

In addition to this, the management could also back the experience of Amit Mishra, therefore he too could make the cut in the Eliminator. In the previous match against KKR, Yash Thakur came in as the Impact Player and added two wickets to his account. However, in his three overs, he proved to be expensive as he leaked 31 runs at an economy of 10.33.

On the flip side, spinner Ravi Bishnoi proved to be instrumental with the ball as restricted the rival side to mere 23 runs in his fours overs and also claimed two wickets. Bishnoi has relished a decent campaign in the ongoing edition and is in the running for the IPL Purple Cap with 16 wickets in 14 appearances at a solid average economy of 7.76.

The 25-year-old pacer Yudhvir Singh last featured against SRH on May 13 and was quite decent  as he gave 24 runs in his three overs with one wicket. He will look to create an impact in the crucial match against Mumbai.

Likewise, Avesh too made his last appearance against the Hyderabad side but proved expensive as he leaked 30 runs in just two overs. Veteran spinner Amit Mishra will look take the spin-friendly wicket at Chepauk to his advantage and hand some blows to the rival side.
