Here's Delhi Capitals’ predicted XI against Gujarat Titans:
Openers: David Warner (c), Philip Salt (wk)
Skipper David Warner has been one of the most consistent performers for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. Despite the ace batter’s strike rate being an issue, Warner has amassed 306 runs in eight games so far. However, in Delhi's last game, Warner was sent back to the pavilion on a duck, and the 36-year-old would hope that he can put in an improved showing in the next game.
Phil Salt would be one of the players who would be expected to be in the lineup as well. The 26-year-old was brilliant for Delhi in their last game. During the run chase against Hyderabad, Salt amassed 59 runs in just 35 deliveries to give Delhi just the start they needed in the match.
Middle Order: Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg, Ripal Patel
After looking decent in previous games, Manish Pandey failed to perform in the side’s previous game. The middle-order batter only managed to score one run in the three deliveries he faced before he was sent back to the pavilion by Abhishek Sharma. Delhi would hope that he can improve upon his showing in the forthcoming game against Gujarat.
22-year-old Priyam Garg played his first game of the IPL 2023 in the side’s last game against Hyderabad. However, he only managed to score 12 runs in nine balls before being dismissed. If given a spot in the playing XI in the next game, Garg would hope for a better performance.
Sarfaraz Khan came in as an impact player during the run chase in the last game. However, the Indian batter failed to make an impact, as he only accumulated nine runs to his name. Delhi’s middle-order batters would be keen on improving upon their innings in the next game if the side wants to register their third win of the season. Despite his poor showing, he could make his way into the playing XI once again.
All-rounders: Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel
Talking about the all-rounders, Mitchell Marsh was excellent for his side in the previous game. After a disappointing showing with the bat in recent games, Marsh finally came through and scored 63 runs in 39 deliveries, bringing the side very close to chasing the target. Furthermore, he also took four wickets in the first innings while conceding 27 runs in four overs.
Axar Patel put in a decent performance in Delhi’s last game against Hyderabad as well. His unbeaten 29 off 14 balls and one wicket in the first innings in the last game would make the side bank on his abilities once again in the next game. Being one of the best performers for his side in the ongoing tournament, Axar’s performance could be crucial for the team in the next game as well.
Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar
Anrich Nortje would be expected to be in the lineup once again. After putting up a poor showing in the previous game, the 29-year-old would look to better himself in the upcoming match. In the last game, Nortje bowled four overs in the game against Hyderabad, where he failed to take any wickets and conceded 44 runs in the process.
With seven wickets in eight games in the IPL so far, Kuldeep Yadav would look to make an impact with the ball in Delhi’s upcoming match. In the last game, the crafty left arm spinner bowled three overs in which he did not take any wickets but conceded 27 runs.
Another name in the bowling attack of Delhi Capitals could be veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma. The 34-year-old was subbed off after the first innings in the previous game; however, he did take one wicket in the three overs he bowled and conceded 31 runs in the process. With four wickets in three matches, Ishant would look to improve in the forthcoming match.
Mukesh Kumar had a game to forget in his last outing for Delhi Capitals. In the two overs that the Indian pacer bowled against Hyderabad, he conceded a whopping 38 runs and failed to take any wickets. However, due to his performance in the previous game, Delhi could bank on his abilities once again.
