After a subpar performance with the bat in the previous game, Delhi managed to still come out victorious thanks to their brilliant display with the ball. In the upcoming clash, the side will be keen on improving upon its batting performances.
Here's Delhi Capitals’ predicted XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Openers: David Warner (c), Philip Salt (wk)
Skipper David Warner has been unable to find his form in recent games. With just two runs in the last two matches, Delhi would hope that the Australian batter can regain his form and amass some important runs for the side in the top order.
In Delhi’s previous game, Warner was dismissed for two runs, and with 308 runs in nine IPL games, the 36-year-old would be desperate to put in an improved performance.
Phil Salt also failed to make an impact in Delhi’s last game. He was dismissed for a duck against Gujarat Titans. However, he did score 59 runs off 35 deliveries against Hyderabad recently, which could make the side bank on his abilities once again against Bangalore.
Middle Order: Manish Pandey, Aman Hakim Khan, Ripal Patel
Manish Pandey was also another of the batters who failed to make an impact in the side’s previous game. Manish was sent packing on a score of one in the last match. However, the Indian batter would look to put in an improved showing in the forthcoming encounter.
Aman Hakim Khan was sensational for Delhi Capitals in the previous game. When the other batters of the side failed to impress, he showed resilience and scored 51 runs in 44 balls, which was crucial to his side notching up a respectable total on the board.
Ripal Patel also had a short cameo for Delhi in the previous game. The 27-year-old amassed 23 runs off 13 deliveries against Gujarat, and having scored just 39 runs in three games in the ongoing season, he would look to accumulate some important runs for the team’s middle order in the next game.
All-rounders: Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel
Mitchell Marsh did not feature for Delhi in the side’s clash with Gujarat. The Australian all-rounder was sick and hence missed the game. However, he would be expected to be fully fit and be in the starting XI when the team takes on Bangalore. In the last game that Marsh played, he was one of the best players for Capitals. Scoring 63 runs in 39 deliveries, he also took four wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Axar Patel has been one of the best performers for Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2023. Having scored 238 runs and taken seven wickets in nine games, Axar has had quite the impact for the David Warner-led side in the tournament.
In his last game, the Indian all-rounder failed to take any wickets; however, he did score 27 runs in 30 balls. He would hope to further improve on his performance at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the next game.
Bowlers: Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
Anrich Nortje put in a decent showing in his previous game, against Gujarat Titans. The 29-year-old bowled four overs and conceded 39 runs, took one wicket, dismissing the in-form Shubman Gill. His spell could be crucial for Delhi in the forthcoming game as well.
Kuldeep Yadav was fabulous in his previous game as well. With eight wickets in nine games so far, Kuldeep continues to impress in the ongoing edition of the T20 carnival. He bowled four overs against Gujarat when he dismissed David Miller for a duck and also conceded 15 runs.
Veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma’s spell quickly became the talk of the town after his last-over heroics against Gujarat. For his fabulous performance, he was named the Player of the Match in the last game, and Delhi would hope that he can put in a similar performance against Bangalore as well.
Khaleel Ahmed came in as the Impact Player in Delhi’s last game. However, he put in an excellent spell and took two wickets and conceded just 24 runs in the four overs he bowled, which included a maiden over as well. He would look to have a similar impact in the next game as well.
