The 59th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 features a clash between the David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday, May 13. Coming into the game on the back of a loss to Chennai Super Kings, David Warner would look to find ways to get the side back to winning ways.

Currently, Delhi find themselves on the wrong end of the IPL points table, as they sit in 10th place with eight points in 11 games. With minimal chances to qualify for the playoffs of the tournament, Delhi Capitals would be expected to not give up hope just yet and emerge victorious to clinch some much-needed points.

Here's Delhi Capitals’ predicted XI against Punjab Kings:

Openers: David Warner (c), Philip Salt (wk)

Delhi Capitals skipper David Warner has seen a complete shift in his form in the IPL 2023. Being one of the highest run-getters for Delhi in the ongoing tournament, Warner has been unable to make an impact in his recent games. The ace Australian batter has only managed to score 24 runs in his last four matches. If the side are looking to win their forthcoming game, then the 36-year-old would look to improve upon his recent showings.

English batter Phil Salt also failed to make an impact in Delhi Capitals’ last match. On the back of a brilliant knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Salt only managed to score 17 runs before he was sent packing in the last game. Due to a subpar showing from the batters of the side, Delhi lost their previous game, and they would be getting desperate to change that in the remaining matches.

Middle Order: Manish Pandey, Aman Hakim Khan, Rilee Rossouw

Manish Pandey came in as an impact player for Delhi Capitals during the run chase. The Indian middle-order batter amassed 27 runs to his name in 29 deliveries before he was sent packing by Matheesha Pathirana. Pandey’s 27-run knock was the second-highest score for Delhi in the second innings. If the side wants to keep their minimal hopes for playoff qualification alive, they would look to heavily improve upon their batting performances.

Aman Hakim Khan barely featured with the bat in the previous game. The Indian batter was unbeaten for two runs in three deliveries. However, he had recently scored a brilliant half-century against Gujarat Titans in the 44th game of the tournament. If he does get to bat for a longer duration, the 26-year-old will look to further build on his recent performances.

Rilee Rossouw was the highest run-getter for Delhi in his side’s clash against Chennai Super Kings. The 33-year-old South African batter scored 35 runs in 37 deliveries. However, he, too, was unable to propel his side to a win. After his dismissal, the rest of the batting attack could not amount to much as Delhi succumbed to defeat.

All-rounders: Mitchell Marsh, Axar Patel, Lalit Yadav

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has really come into his own in the ongoing IPL 2023. After a rocky start to the tournament, Marsh has picked up on his form. In Delhi’s last game, he took three wickets and conceded just 18 runs in three overs. However, he was unable to make an impact with the bat and was sent back to the pavilion for just five runs.

Star Indian all-rounder Axar Patel has been one of the most consistent players for Delhi in the ongoing tournament. With 267 runs and nine wickets in 11 IPL games so far, Axar would be expected to come through for his side in the next game and provide them with a much-needed victory.

Lalit Yadav would also be expected to feature in Delhi Capitals’ forthcoming clash. The Indian all-rounder took one wicket, conceded 34 runs in three overs, and scored 12 runs in five balls during the run chase in the last game. He would be keen on improving upon his performance in the next game and propelling his side to a win.

Bowlers: Khaleel Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, Ishant Sharma

The bowling attack of Delhi Capitals did well in their last game to restrict Chennai Super Kings to a respectable total. Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav managed to take one wicket each. Khaleel conceded 32 runs in four overs, whereas Kuldeep conceded 28 runs in the four overs he bowled.

Ishant, unfortunately, did not manage to take any wickets in Delhi’s previous clash. The veteran Indian pacer bowled two overs in the game, where he conceded 23 runs. The 34-year-old would look to improve upon his performance in the forthcoming clash.
