The defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2023 playoffs as they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 34 runs in their last fixture. The Hardik Pandya led-side will look to end the league stage of the competition on a high as they take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Sunday, May 21 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Gujarat are ranked at the top of the points table, having 18 points with nine wins from 13 matches. GT have confirmed their spot in the top two of the points table and might look to rest some of their players against RCB. However, the upcoming game is important for Bangalore to qualify for the playoffs. Hence, Gujarat will have to field a strong Playing XI to give good competition to RCB and make their road to the playoffs tougher:

Openers: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill
Saha has given several explosive starts to his side this season, scoring 275 runs from 13 innings at an average of 22.91 and a strike rate of 132.85. The wicketkeeper-batter played a stupendous knock of 81 off 43 balls against Lucknow Super Giants and will be eager to get into the playoffs with good form.
Shubman Gill scored a scintillating hundred against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game as he played a brilliant knock of 101 off 58 balls, smashing 13 fours and a six in his innings. Gill is the highest run-scorer for GT in the ongoing season with 576 runs to his name at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 146.19. The 23-year-old will look to play another brilliant knock and get into the playoffs in top form.
Middle Order: Sai Sudharsan, David Miller, Dasun Shanaka, Rahul Tewatia
Sai Sudharsan played a brilliant knock of 47 off 36 balls against SRH on his return to the side after seven games. In the six games so far, the 21-year-old has scored 223 runs from six innings at an average of 44.60. Sudharsan will be eager to get into the rhythm before the playoffs as he will be playing a key role in the middle order.
David Miller departed cheaply against SRH as he scored just seven runs off five balls. The southpaw has played several memorable knocks in the season having scored 249 runs from 11 innings at an average of 41.50 and a strike rate of 150.90. Miller will also look to find some form heading into the playoffs.
Dasun Shanaka played an unbeaten knock of nine off seven balls against SRH on his IPL debut. The 31-year-old was brought into the side as a replacement for Kane Williamson who got injured while fielding in the first game. Shanaka will be tested once again against RCB heading into the playoffs.
Rahul Tewatia has been exceptional in finishing games for the side batting at a strike rate of 170.21. The southpaw has could only score three off three balls against SRH and will be eager to make amends against RCB.
All-rounders: Hardik Pandya (c)
Captain Pandya once again departed cheaply against SRH after scoring just eight off six balls. The all-rounder has scored 289 runs from 12 innings at an average of 28.90 and a strike rate of 130.76. Pandya would be eager to find his form after low scores in the last three games.
Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, Mohammed Shami, Mohit Sharma
Rashid Khan is in the race for the IPL purple cap as he is the joint-highest wicket-taker of the season with 23 wickets from 13 innings. The wrist spinner has won the Player of the Match award twice in the season and will be eyeing another match-winning performances heading into the playoffs.
Mohammed Shami is the joint-highest wicket-taker of the season along with Rashid, having 23 wickets to his name at an average of 16.73 and an economy of 7.54. Shami has been exceptional with the new ball for GT and has picked wickets at the top. The seamer will be eager to put on another brilliant show with the ball against RCB and leave Rashid behind in the Purple Cap race.
Noor Ahmad replaced Alzarri Joseph in the playing XI and has picked 11 wickets in nine matches in the tournament so far at an average of 22.63 and an economy of 7.74. The left-arm spinner will be eager to add more wickets to his tally heading into the playoffs and will play a key role for his team in the upcoming games.
Mohit Sharma picked up 4/28 in four overs against SRH. The right-arm seamer has made a remarkable comeback to the tournament after three years, picking up 17 wickets from 10 innings at an average of 13.52 and an economy of 7.45. The right-arm seamer will be eager to once again bowl his team to victory against RCB.
