Royal Challengers Bengaluru had an insane turnaround in the second half of the league. After losing 7 of their first 8 matches, RCB won all their 7 matches to qualify for the playoffs. Their campaign had a sad ending, as they could not win the Eliminator against RR. However, given the squad they had on paper, RCB can be pleased with their performances in the 17th edition of the league.

Having said that, the 3-time runner-ups could have did a lot better had they backed some of their players. Some of the decisions taken by the management seemed rather clueless and without any relevance. Such decisions could have cost RCB a potential top-2 finish in the league. Some of the players got less number of opportunities to be on the field than they should have gotten.

Here are some of the RCB players who were underutilized in the IPL 2024:

3. Will Jacks

Will Jacks should have played a few more games than he ended up playing. By the time he started for RCB in the XI, 5 matches were played where the Bengaluru-based franchise lost 4 games. His presence in the side was felt. In 8 matches, he scored 230 runs at a batting average of 32.85, at a batting SR of 175.57, including a hundred and a fifty to his name. His 100 against GT played a key role in the improvement of RCB's net run rate.

2. Vijaykumar Vyshak

Vijaykumar Vyshak was terribly underused by RCB. Whenever the emerging bowler got a chance to bowl, he impressed many with his variations. Bowling at over 140 kmph, he had slower ones and cutters in his armoury. He did well in many games and got dropped the very next game. In 4 matches, the right-arm pacer claimed as many wickets at a bowling SR of 21.7 and impressed a lot.

1. Suyash Prabhudesai

Suyash Prabhudesai was mostly chosen as an impact player in some games for RCB. In most of them, he did not get a chance to bat. The emerging talent got to play for RCB in only one innings. Against KKR, he scored 24 runs in 18 balls after a quick succession of flow of wickets. For a talent like him, playing a solitary game does not do any justice. Not to forget, he is a brilliant fielder in the outfield.
