Spinners and all-rounders - Axar Patel, Naman Dhir and Nitish Kumar Reddy
Axar Patel operates as the primary spinner, delivering flat, quick left-arm spin through overs 11 to 40. On Eden Park's compact straight boundaries, this approach allows Axar to slow New Zealand's middle order without serving the type of slower, fuller length that batsmen can easily dispatch over the shorter dimensions. The hard surface offers very little turn or grip, making pace and accuracy more valuable than spin.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Naman Dhir function as all-rounders, enabling captain Gill to rotate four genuine seam options while retaining a sixth bowler. This flexibility allows India to adjust the bowling combination based on match conditions and the toss outcome.
