Following the cricketing action in the third week, it’s essential to rate the performances put up by all bowling units.
2. South Africa- 9/10
South Africa have emerged as a surprise package in this World Cup. The Proteas were not considered the favourites to lift the trophy before the start of the competition but now they are looking extremely confident with their extraordinary performance. In week three, they played attacking cricket and pummelled England and Bangladesh at the Wankhede Stadium.
Against England, their batters looked exceptional to post 399 runs on the board. Following the marvellous show from the batters, the Protea bowlers also showcased their ruthless side. Joint efforts from all bowlers forced the English team to capitulate on 170 runs. In the end, Gerald Coetzee became the highest wicket-taker with three scalps. Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi also took two wickets apiece.
The Proteas continued their form against Bangladesh in the same venue. This time, their bowlers wrapped up the Bangla side on 233 runs while defending a mammoth total of 399 runs. Coetzee took a three-wicket haul for consecutive two games.
