The IPL 2023 auction is all set to take place on December 23 in Kochi. Most of the franchises will head into the marquee event in a bid to fill holes in the squad whereas teams such as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders, having released most of their players, will try to restructure their entire unit.

The upcoming player auction will feature some top-drawer cricketers such as Ben Stokes, Sam Curran, and Cameron Green and franchises might go to a bidding war to pick them. However, there are certain players who fetched big bucks in the last season and their stocks in the T20 circuit have dipped since then. So, the IPL teams might be reluctant to spend their money on these T20 stars.

Here are the five players who will fetch less than the 2022 season:

5. Shivam Mavi

Kolkata Knight Riders signed Shivam Mavi for the 2022 season of the cash-rich league. The 23-year-old was impressive for the Kolkata franchise in the last two seasons taking a total of 20 wickets in 17 matches and the team management would have expected big things from him in the 15th edition of the tournament.

However, Mavi failed to deliver the goods with the ball and could manage only five wickets in six games, conceding runs at an alarming rate of 10.32. Following the Uttar Pradesh pacer’s poor outings, KKR parted ways with him ahead of the IPL 2023 auction.

Kolkata spent a whopping INR 7.25 crore to sign Mavi at the last mega auction but given the right-arm seamer failed miserably, it does not appear that franchises will go all guns blazing to sign him at the forthcoming auction.
