The fourth week of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) delivered magnificent cricketing action as fans witnessed thrillers such as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) versus Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) versus Punjab Kings (PBKS). At the iconic Eden Gardens, Jos Buttler stepped up and steered RR to a two-wicket win with his unbeaten 107-run knock that came in just 60 deliveries.

It wasn’t just Buttler who performed impressively in the previous week. There were also some Indian players who looked extraordinary in their roles and made it to the list of the best performers of the week. Discussing more, here is the

Best India XI of the fourth week

1.  Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli exuded confidence with his bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Pursuing a score of 288, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) required a fierce start and Kohli stepped up and produced an effective knock of 42 off just 20, with six fours and two maximums.


2. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal has done his job efficiently for RR. In Rajasthan’s victories against Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the southpaw delivered brilliant starts to his side, notching up 39 (28) and 19 (9) against Punjab and Kolkata, respectively.


3. Suryakumar Yadav 

Suryakumar Yadav looked stunning with his bat in Mumbai's nine-run triumph against Punjab in Mohali. The right-handed batter hit an extraordinary 78 off 53, with seven fours and three maximums, and became the leading run-getter in the match.


4. Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube stepped up in the massive contest for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against the arch-rivals Mumbai at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. Batting at number four, he notched up an unbeaten 66 off 38 with 12 boundaries (10 fours and two maximums). 


5. Abdul Samad

Abdul Samad played fabulously against the Challengers in Bengaluru. The right-handed batter scored an unbeaten 37 off just 10 deliveries, with seven boundaries (four fours and three maximums), and helped his side post the highest team total in the history of the league. 


6. Dinesh Karthik (WK)

Dinesh Karthik displayed his fighting spirit against the Sunrisers at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Batting at the lower middle order, he racked up 83 runs off just 35 balls with 12 boundaries (five fours and seven maximums). His magnificent knock decreased the margin of defeat for the Challengers.


7. Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh got a chance to bat at number six against Rajasthan at the Eden Gardens. He played a superb cameo knock of an unbeaten 20 off nine deliveries. His innings included three boundaries (one four and two maximums).


8. Ashutosh Sharma

Ashutosh Sharma won the hearts of numerous cricket supporters with his remarkable 61-run innings off just 28 deliveries against MI in Mohali. It was his knock that kept Punjab alive until the last over of the contest. Earlier, he also smashed an impressive 31 off just 16 against Rajasthan in Mohali. 


9. Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan has bolstered RR’s bowling attack efficiently in this tournament. In week four, he played a vital role in Rajasthan’s wins against Punjab and Kolkata. Against PBKS, the speedster clinched 2/34 figures in his four-over spell while against KKR on Kolkata’s difficult bowling turf, he delivered a thrifty spell to his side, picking up 2/35 figures in just four overs.


10. Ravi Bishnoi

Ravi Bishnoi looked decent with the ball against Delhi and Kolkata in the last week. In both games, he delivered disciplined spells to his side Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In the losing cause against Delhi, the leg-break bowler chipped in with 2/25 figures in his four-over spell. Against the Knight Riders, he didn’t get any wickets in his 2.4-over spell but gave away only 17 runs.


11. Jasprit Bumrah

Against Chennai at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai got a 20-run drubbing but during the game, their pace-bowling spearhead Jasprit Bumrah bowled a thrifty spell of 0/27 in his four overs. Bumrah continued his brilliant work in MI's next game against Punjab in Mohali. This time, he formed a formidable fast-bowling duo with Gerald Coetzee and wreaked havoc on the hosts. In Mumbai's nine-run win, he became the recipient of the Player of the Match award for clinching 3/21 figures in his four-over spell.
