Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will host Delhi Capitals (DC) in match 26 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The KL Rahul-led side are coming on the back of a three-match winning streak and will look to continue their dominance at home - Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow – on April 11.
LSG made their IPL debut in 2022 and performed decently in the last two seasons, qualifying for the playoffs. They are currently third on the points table and will aim to continue their impressive run to clinch the maiden title. DC, on the other hand, have not won a single title despite being part of the league since its inception in 2008.
Their current form, sitting at the bottom of the table with four defeats, shows signs that the 2020 finalists are set for another disastrous campaign. However, it is noteworthy that over the years, both teams have fielded some of the best players in the league. Some of them still represent the same team while others have had the opportunity to play for other franchises. There are quite a few players who have played for both LSG and DC.
Here are three active players who have played for both LSG and DC -
3. Marcus Stoinis
Marcus Stoinis is a vital cog in the LSG squad. The Australian has been with the Lucknow-based franchise since their inaugural season and has won several games for them with his all-round prowess. He has scored 668 runs for LSG in 29 innings and also grabbed ten wickets in 11 innings.
Stoinis started his IPL career with Delhi Capitals in 2015 and was released ahead of the next season. He has represented a total of four franchises so far. The fast-bowling all-rounder returned to DC in the 2020 edition and played there for two years before being acquired by LSG in the 2022 mega auction for INR 9.2 crore. He has scored 441 runs in 24 innings and took 15 wickets in 21 innings for Delhi.
2. Amit Mishra
Amit Mishra is one of the most successful bowlers in league history. The 41-year-old has been a part of the tournament since 2008 and has played 161 matches and grabbed more than 170 wickets – the fourth-highest wicket-taker. The veteran wrist spinner started his journey with DC and represented them for ten seasons (2008-10; 2015-21).
The holder of three hat-tricks has picked up a total of 106 wickets for DC in 99 matches. Mishra joined LSG in 2022 but did not get many opportunities to play for them. He has represented them in seven matches and has taken as many as wickets at an economy rate of 7.84.
1. Quinton de Kock
Quinton de Kock recently completed 100 IPL matches for five different franchises spanning 12 seasons. The South African opener made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2013 and was picked up by Delhi the following year. He was there for the next four seasons but did not play a single match in the 2017 edition due to injury.
The southpaw scored 720 runs in 23 innings for DC, including five fifties and a ton. His impressive performance in the IPL and at the international level forced LSG to acquire his services ahead of the 2022 season. Batting aggressively, the wicketkeeper-batter has so far made 796 runs for Lucknow from 23 innings at an average of 36.18 and a strike rate of 145.8, including six half-centuries and a hundred.
