4. Abdur Razzak’s 3-35 against South Africa in the World Cup 2007

The 2007 World Cup in the West Indies fared well for Bangladesh as with the minnows tag, they humiliated heavyweights India by defeating them in the group stage and advanced to the Super Eight round. The victory against the Men in Blue emboldened them and in the next round, they performed another upset by pummeling South Africa by 67 runs, riding on Abdur Razzak’s heroic spell.

In the victory, Razzak had a major contribution with the ball as he bagged a three-fer while conceding just 25 runs in 9.4 overs. The bowler with his disciplined bowling removed Ab de Villiers early which was a big setback for the Proteas.

Chasing the target of 252, the early blows endured by the Proteas caused damage to their innings and on the other hand, Razzak’s tight bowling in the middle overs put immense pressure on other batters. In the end, the spinner restricted the South African innings to 184 and scripted a comprehensive victory for Bangladesh.
