The delegates of the Cricket Australia (CA) arrived in the capital city of Bangladesh, Dhaka, on July 24. The delegation team sent by the CA comprised of 5 members. They have been entitled with the responsibilty of assessing the preparation levels of the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the upcoming Australia tour of Bangladesh. The Australian team is scheduled to play 2 Test matches during the short tour.

The series is expected to be landmark event since this will be the first visit for the Aussie side to the Bangladeshi soil for a bilateral Test series since the year 2006. The board had earlier announced a full strength squad for the 2-match Test series.

As per the reports in the Dhaka Tribune, the chairman of the BCB media committee, Mr. Jalal Younus, noted that the visit by the delegations is meant for a routine check before the series. The delegation team will be assessing the logistics and the other facilities.

“The five member Australian delegation team will arrive Dhaka tonight (Monday) to assess the preparation for the upcoming home series. This is a routine tour for the delegation team where they will observe the logistics and other facilities and will give their suggestion to the BCB,” quoted Jala Younus.

CA Pay Dispute

While the plans and the itinerary for the tour has already been finalized, there are still dark clouds hovering over the series. The ongoing pay scuffle between the Australian cricketers and the Cricket Australia is yet to be resolved. If the tour has to get underway, then as per the schedule, the Steve Smith-led side has to arrive in Bangladesh on August 17. They will then play a 2-day warm up game before heading into the first Test.

Earlier, back in 2015, the Australian team was scheduled to tour Bangladesh. But a similar delegation team had deemed the Asian nation to be unsafe and hence the tour was called off.
