Cricket Australia names the best T20 XI of 2018

Cricket Australia (CA) has recently put forth their T20 team of 2018. The team has Colin Munro and Aaron Finch as the openers. Munro was the leading run-scorer last year with 1530 runs in 48 matches with 12 half-centuries and a century against Windies in January. Finch scored 1350 runs in 39 games with his top score of 172 coming against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club back in July.

Former South African cricketer AB de Villiers has been slotted at number three. The Pretoria-born played scored 762 runs in 22 contests at an average of 42.33. Rishabh Pant, the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, racked up 1209 runs in 32 matches with his top score of 128 not out coming against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 11th edition of the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL).

A formidable lineup

The 21-year-old bats at number four in the lineup. Mohammad Nabi from Afghanistan with 745 runs and 35 wickets made the cut as well. Russell played a couple of blinders in the IPL and Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Moreover, he finished the year with 35 wickets from 36 matches.

Daniel Christian notched 885 runs and picked up 36 wickets. He is a specialist all-rounder with Nabi and Russell. Rashid Khan ended as the year’s leading wicket-taker with 96 wickets from 61 matches. Having also played some useful knocks with the bat, CA couldn’t have afforded to leave him out.

Proteas’ tweaker Imran Tahir, having picked up 59 wickets from 44 matches, is the other specialist spinner. Jofra Archer got 61 wickets from 41 matches and he will partner Pakistani left-arm speedster Wahab Riaz, who racked up 46 wickets in 43 matches last year, in the fast bowling department.
