Fans have often noticed hilarious moments on the field and the bigger one happened during Finland’s European Cricket Championship. When Finland won the toss against England XI, they chose to show up with an extremely attacking yet hilarious field set up. Finland placed eight slip fielders and a leg slip for the first ball.
It has to be noted that Finland has won only one game so far in the championship when they registered a victory over Italy. Even the commentator added that he cannot believe his eyes. Various fans on Twitter added that they haven’t seen a setup like this ever before.
“Oh my goodness gracious me, look at this field. We’ve got eight slips, and a leg slip for the first ball of the match to be bowled by Amjad Sher. Well, this is extraordinary,” the commentator said while describing the situation of the game.

Just one normal day of European Championship Cricket 🙏

“Finland’s captain: I think the ball is gonna swing a bit,” a Twitter user wrote.
“Would have been enjoyable if an edge had gone past 8th slip for 4. “I told you to put a 9th, captain,” wrote another.
Here is how Twitter reacted to Finland’s bizarre setup of field
It's a T10 made up of the winners of a country's club cricket league. I guess expats of cricketing nations who live in Europe's countries seem to be establishing a viable league system. It looks like a front to me though. This slip thing is no doubt a marketing stunt?

If @DaltonCricket don’t start next season with this field placement for the first ball we may as well concede

Reverse sweep over the cordon is the only way to play this.

However, any sort of field setup didn’t fetch Finland what they desired and England went on to win the game by 14 runs. England batters didn’t commit any mistake while tackling the first ball and posted 113 runs after losing four wickets in their innings. Their captain Dan Lincoln scored 56 off 26 balls. He has also featured in two T20 Blast games and played a County Championship fixture for Kent. Lincoln has also been part of Middlesex earlier.
In the same light of events, former Australian leg spinner Brad Hogg stated that it was a poor captaincy from Finland’s side and he suggested that they make a proper field for the next ball onwards.
“Poor captaincy, beat the outside edge, ball swinging, batsman vulnerable, keep the field in place for the next ball,” tweeted former Australian leggie, Brad Hogg.
