POTM Mayank Yadav said:
"Feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both the matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green's wicket the most. There are a lot of factors to bowl quick - diet, sleep, training. I am focusing a lot on my diet and recovery - ice bath," Yadav said.
Winning skipper KL Rahul said:
"Overall a really good performance. the wicket was a bit tricky and there was some help for the seamers. Quinton got us off to a good start. We were 10-15 runs ahead of what we needed to be. The talk was about using the wicket and not the yorkers. It's important to stay calm. One ball hit me really hard, so happy to see Mayank bowl the way he's been bowling. He's waited patiently for a year, he's working really hard, he's really professional, has a great temperament. Bowling first has been the trend in T20 cricket. If I have a look at our record, it speaks differently. The good thing I am doing is losing the toss. If we get bowled out, if the opposition blasts out, there's something to go back and look. It's okay to lose sometimes, the first game was one such game, we have bounced back really well. This is how we play our cricket. Powerplay bowling has always been a question mark, trying to fix that. We've gone spin this game, very obvious match-up against RCB which worked. We'll try find ways to get wickets in the powerplay," Rahul said.
Losing skipper Faf du Plessis said:
"Spot on (dropped catches cost us). Two very good players, QdK when was on 25-30 and Nicky P was on 2, 60-65 extra runs, mistakes like that can cost you in the IPL. It is the new action you haven't faced before, and if they have pace then you need time to get used to it (about Mayank). But his ability to control length and have accuracy is impressive. I didn't think we were very good with our bowling especially in the powerplay, Maxwell brought it back and there were some pleasing signs in the death overs. You need two guys to bat through and get a partnership which we were not able to do. We need the strong characters in the dressing room to put their hand up," Faf said.
LSG WIN BY 41 RUNS!
Naveen-ul-Haq picked up the wicket of Mohammed Siraj as Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 28 runs. They move upwards on the points table while RCB remain ninth on the table.
Back-to-back sixes for Siraj
Mohammed Siraj hits back-to-back sixes off Ravi Bishnoi. RCB are 152/9 after 19 overs. 30 runs needed in the final over.
MAHIPAL LOMROR DEPARTS!
Yash Thakur picked up his first wicket as Mahipal Lomror departed after scoring 33 runs off 13 deliveries. RCB are 138/9
WHAT A THROW!
Nicholas Pooran's direct throw from the deep got the better of Mayank Dagar who was well short of his crease. RCB are now 137/8
Dinesh Karthik departs!
Naveen picked up the wicket of Dinesh Karthik. He departed for four runs as RCB are 136/7
Lomror in no mood to stop!
Another six for Lomror. LSG in pressure!
19 runs off the over
Yash Thakur proved very expensive as 19 runs were scored against him. RCB are 123/6 after 16 overs.
ANOTHER SIX!
YOU CANNOT WRITE RCB OFF! Mahipal Lomror hit another six off Yash Thakur. They are going after the target.
6,4
10 runs off two balls. Mahipal Lomror is keeping RCB in the hunt.
REVIEW SAVES KARTHIK
Umpire gave out following an LBW appeal but Dinesh Karthik decided to review it. The wicket was missing in the replay!
THIRD WICKET FOR MAYANK YADAV!
Another wicket for Mayank Yadav as Rajat Patidar departed for 29 runs. Devdutt Padikkal picked up a brilliant catch as RCB are 103/6
Nine runs off the over
Yash Thakur gave away nine runs in his second over as RCB are 103/5 after 14 overs.
With two defeats in three matches, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are in a tight spot in the ongoing IPL 2024. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), on the other hand, lost their opening match of the season against Rajasthan Royals but the KL Rahul-led side bounced back with a 21-run victory over Punjab Kings in their last match. They would aim to carry on with the momentum and get the job done against RCB, when they face them on April 2 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Even though a lot of RCB players are not in form at the moment, defeating them will not be an easy task. Star batter Virat Kohli is in brilliant touch, despite strong criticism on the internet, as he is currently the IPL Orange Cap holder. When all the other batters have struggled to get going so far in IPL 2024, Virat and Dinesh Karthik have proven to be a force to reckon with as they have done an incredible job so far. The bowlers however will have to step up as they lacked character in three matches so far.
There were multiple positives for Lucknow in their last match against Punjab. Quinton de Kock scored his 21st half-century in the league while Nicholas Pooran and Krunal Pandya were phenomenal with the bat. With the ball, debutant Mayank Yadav impressed all as he picked up three wickets in the middle but more than that, it was his raw pace that made the headline. Overall, the KL Rahul-led side will be confident of a fruitful result in Bengaluru.
