Abhiram Singh Yadav appointed to ICC Chief Executives' Committee

Persatuan Cricket Indonesia chairman Abhiram Singh Yadav has been elected to the ICC Chief Executives' Committee, taking up one of three seats on the committee that are reserved exclusively for Associate Member representatives. The appointment was confirmed by the International Cricket Council on Thursday, September 24.

The vacancy arose after Gurumurthy Palani moved to the ICC Board following his election at the annual conference held in Edinburgh, Scotland, in July 2026. Palani's elevation to the Board left one of the three Associate Member positions on the Chief Executives' Committee unfilled, and the process to identify a successor concluded with Yadav's confirmed appointment.

Yadav will hold the seat until the next round of elections, which are scheduled to take place at the ICC Annual Conference in June 2027. His election completes the full complement of Associate Member representation on the committee ahead of that date.

Why did a vacancy arise on the ICC Chief Executives' Committee?

The Chief Executives' Committee maintains three dedicated positions for Associate Member representatives within the ICC governance structure. When Gurumurthy Palani secured election to the ICC Board at the Edinburgh conference in July this year, his departure from the committee created a gap in that representation. The seat remained open until the election process concluded in favour of Yadav.

The Edinburgh conference was the annual gathering at which ICC member boards conduct elections and governance business. Palani's move to the Board was a promotion within the ICC structure, and the rules required the resulting Associate Member vacancy on the Chief Executives' Committee to be filled through a fresh election rather than a direct appointment.

Yadav's candidacy for the Associate Member seat was supported by a record of measurable progress for cricket in Indonesia during his tenure as chairman of Persatuan Cricket Indonesia. Under his leadership, the Indonesian women's side qualified for the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup in 2023, a landmark result for a country still building its cricketing infrastructure.

Indonesia also made its debut at the latest Women's Asia Cup, which was staged in Dubai. Appearing at a continental tournament of that standing for the first time represented a further step forward for the programme Yadav has overseen. These two achievements, the 2023 Under-19 World Cup qualification and the 2026 Women's Asia Cup debut, were cited as part of the context surrounding his candidacy for the ICC Chief Executives' Committee seat. His election now gives Indonesian cricket a direct voice in ICC committee-level discussions for the first time.
