The 16th edition of the Asia Cup is all set to begin as Pakistan will square off against Nepal in the curtain raiser of the event on Wednesday, August 30, at the Multan Cricket Stadium. The continental event will be played in the 50-over format, considering that the ODI World Cup is on the horzion. 

Six teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh will compete for the coveted title and they have been split into two groups. While India, Pakistan, and Nepal form Group A, defending champions Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh are part of Group B.

The marquee match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India will be played on September 2, at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Top two teams from each of the groups will further progress to the 'Super Four' following the conclusion of the league phase. 

Pakistan will host a total of four fixtures in the Asia Cup 2023 whereas Sri Lanka will takeover as hosts for the remaining nine games. The summit clash of the continental tournament will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 17.
