Hardik Pandya was awarded the ‘Impact Player of the Match’ medal for the match between India and Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, on Friday, September 19.

While Hardik was unfortunately run out at the non-striker’s end for just one run, he was exemplary in the field and with the ball.

The Baroda all-rounder took the new ball and finished his spell with one wicket from four overs, conceding just 26 runs. However, his catch to dismiss the top-scorer of the match, Aamir Kaleem, in the 18th over of the second innings stunned the cricket fraternity. His awareness of the boundary line was praised by fans as well as experts.

After being handed the medal by training assistant Dayanand Garani, Hardik admitted that India were tested during their 21-run win against Oman and commended his teammates for playing their roles well.

“I think we had a very good game today as a group. We were tested. It was hot. But at the same time, everyone came in and played their role,” Hardik said in his speech.

On 21st, it’s just another game: Hardik Pandya

Pandya also spoke about the upcoming Super-Four clash against Pakistan. He advised his teammates not to think too much about the game beforehand.

“On 21st, it’s just another game. Let’s play the game when it’s played. Not before it. Good luck, guys,” Hardik said.

Hardik went on to hand his medal to Dayanand, appreciating him for the efforts he puts in behind the scenes with the Indian players.

“I would like to give this to Daya from my side. Jo itni mehenat karte ho, fielding mein mehenat karate ho (the hard work you do, the hard work you make us do), thank you for that,” Hardik stated.

India will face Pakistan on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai in match No. 2 of the Super-Four stage of the tournament. The Super Fours get underway on Saturday with Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh.
