Australia will find it hard to win if Virat Kohli scores big: Greg Chappell

Virat Kohli is a modern-day great of the game, and his passion for the game is simply unparalleled. The Delhi-born cricketer has scored runs all over the world and also has the second most international centuries. He would be a key player for India in the upcoming four-match Test series between India and Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. 

Greg Chappell, the former Australian great, expressed about how vital Kohli is to the Indian side and how he can be a trouble for Australia in the upcoming series starting on February 9 in Nagpur. 

"Virat is a very good player. One of the best. And the best players always want to do the best in the best series. In Virat's case if you see, he always wants to win against Australia and has played some of his best innings against Australia. He will have a major impact on this series. If Virat scores big runs, Australia will find it quite hard to win the series," said Greg Chappell on Backstage with Boria show.

Chappell then spoke about how Australia might have a chance if the Australian bowlers dominate him. He added, "On the other hand, if the Australian bowlers stop Virat from scoring big, Australia will have a very good chance to win the series. In sum, Virat's batting will have a major bearing on this series." 

The first Test between India and Australia is set to be played at the Vidharbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. The much-awaited series to expected to be an epic encounter between the two sides. India would be hoping to continue their domination in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy while Australia would eye a rare series win against India in India.

The first Test is set to be played in Nagpur before the teams move to Delhi for the second Test starting on February 17. The two final Test matches of the series will be played in Dharamshala and Ahmedabad in March.
