Premier Australia Women's wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy is set to miss the T20I series against Pakistan at home as she continues to recover from a calf injury sustained during the recent tour of India.

According to a Cricket Australia statement, Healy is expected to be available for the upcoming T20 World Cup in South Africa in February. She will however, remain with the squad during the series as she continues her rehabilitation even though being ruled out.

Surprisingly, Healy will be heading into the World Cup in February without any prior match practice.

Alyssa Healy injured herself in the T20I series against India

Alyssa, in the 5-match T20I series tour to India recently, had stepped in as captain in the absence of regular skipper Meg Lanning who had taken an indefinite break from cricket citing mental health reasons.

However, in the T20I series, the 32-year-old had to sit out of the 5th T20I in Mumbai after suffering a calf strain while batting in the fourth match. Healy was unable to bat again or field in that match with Tahlia McGrath taking over as captain.

Beth Mooney, who kept wicket in Healy's absence in those two matches, will continue in the role for the upcoming series too. Her absence from the squad will provide the opener's slot to regular skipper Lanning, who will be making a comeback into the game after a 4-monthn break, alongside Mooney.

Australia will play three ODIs against Pakistan in Brisbane on January 16, before the T20Is get underway in Sydney on January 24. The second T20I will take place in Hobart on January 26 and the final T20I is scheduled in Canberra on January 29. Australia's first match at the T20 World Cup is against New Zealand on February 12.
