Babar Azam is a legend right now, he is the favorite among younger stars especially me: Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Pakistani's star batter Babar Azam is known for his brilliant batting and beautiful cover drives. Because of his exceptional batting prowess, Babar has made fans all around the world. Now, Afghanistan's hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has also expressed his admiration for Babar.

Currently, both Gurbaz and Babar are playing in the Lanka Premier League, where Babar is representing Colombo Stars while Gurbaz is playing for the Jaffna Kings. Gurbaz revealed that not just him, but his whole family is a big fan of the Pakistani skipper, including his younger brother who also plays cricket. The Afghani batter also said that his younger brother has asked for Babar Azam's signed T-Shirt.

"Yes my brother always talks about Babar Azam with me and he asked that please take one T-shirt from Babar for me and I said ok, so he loves Babar. My brother plays good cricket, so yeah his favourite player is Babar. Babar is the favorite player for the younger stars, especially for me," Gurbaz said as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Gurbaz, who himself is known for his hard-hitting batting, said that Babar is a legendary batter and he loves the way he bats.

“I like his batting and the way he bats, I can see he’s a legend right now,” he concluded.

Babar decided not to take the captaincy role in LPL 2023:

Recently, Colombo Stars coach revealed that Babar chose not to take the captaincy role in the LPL 2023 and rather decided to play solely as a batter. His decision's impact is quite visible in his amazing batting performances in the tournament.

With 235 runs in just five innings, Babar has maintained his dominance on the run-scorers leaderboard as usual. His standout performances have helped him to take the top spot, placing him ahead of some other big names like Tim Seifert. Notably, Babar is the only player to have scored a century in the league this season.
