KL Rahul-led team India lock horns with hosts Bangladesh in a two-match Test series scheduled to commence on December 14 in Chattogram. India pacer Jaydev Unadkat, who has been recalled to the Test side, is still stuck in India ahead of the first Test match.

It is understood that the pacer has not received his visa despite all the efforts of the logistics department in the board trying to get him to join the squad as early as possible. Furthermore, as per a Cricbuzz report, Unadkat is presently at home in Rajkot due to the said visa issues.

Unadkat’s case appears to be a peculiar one as the BCCI arranges visas for all players at the earliest usually. However, no pre-booking was done for the veteran left-arm pacer as he was included in the squad as an unexpected inclusion following the injury to Mohammed Shami.

India cross swords with Bangladesh in two Test matches

The management will look into Unadkat’s matter and will hope that he joins the squad prior to the second Test. That said, with the veteran pacer out of the Chattogram Test, the doors could open up for players like Navdeep Saini.

However, the final selection will be done based on the conditions and requirements of the match by the management. Earlier, BCCI shared an updated squad with Cheteshwar Pujara named as the deputy to KL Rahul.

Team India are on course to cement a spot in the summit clash of the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 cycle. However, the side would require wins in the red-ball matches against the Bangla Tigers in order to remain a step closer to the finals of the event held next year.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, will look to give a tough fight and overcome their failures of never being able to beat team India in the Test format previously.
