Melbourne Renegades' explosive hitter Andre Russell dispatched a monstrous six into the stands at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong on Wednesday (December 21) evening against Brisbane Heat in the ongoing BBL. The top-tier league is up and running once again and fans have already witnessed quite a few interesting matches thus far and the trend is expected to continue till the very end of the event.

In one of the matches, Jamaican all-rounder and Renegades batter Russell, ‘Dre Russ’ as he is fondly referred to, garnered attention for launching a 103 metre six in the competition. The explosive batter smashed a humongous hit over the bowler's head and it ended up going several rows back.

It was the third ball of the 10th over, Russell was on strike to face James Bazley and he dispatched the ball into the stands. Bazley bowled a half-volley and the Caribbean batter timed the ball to perfection to hit a massive one.

Renegades register victory against Brisbane Heat

Russell came to the crease when Renegades were 4-9 after Brisbane Heat pacer Michael Neser tore through the top order and scalped a hat-trick. Neser eventually registered a four-wicket haul in the contest that nearly took the game away from the Melbourne side.

However, Russell’s knock of 57 runs off 42 balls tilted the momentum in the Renegades’ favour. Furthermore, Russell also put on 81 runs for the fifth wicket along with Aaron Finch, as the latter stayed unbeaten on 31 runs off 43 balls which included two fours and a maximum.

Akeal Hosein too played a vital knock of 30 runs off 19 deliveries which eventually handed Renegades a win in the contest. With just four balls to spare, the Nic Maddinson-led Renegades registered their third consecutive win in the ongoing season. Renegades along with Adelaide Strikers are the two sides standing on top of the table having played three matches and won all three.
