The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday, July 23, announced a cash bonus of Tk 35 lakh for the women’s team following their successful ODI series against India Women. Notably, Nigar Sultana-led Bangladesh got on level terms with India in the three-match ODI series 1-1.

With this, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon announced a cash reward for the women’s team as they won the first ODI and put up a tough fight against the Women in Blue. Post the conclusion of the series, the BCB chief also hailed the performance put up by Bangladesh's maiden centurion, Fargana Hoque, and decided to share the extended bonus. Furthermore, he also added that the support staff of the women's team will be duly rewarded as well.

"Normally we give bonuses when we win a series, but since we won our first ODI against India and there were a few individual performances like Fargana Hoque who scoring a century, we decided to give Tk 25 lakh for the players," Nazmul Hassan Papon was quoted as saying by ‘The Daily Star’.

"We will also give Tk 2 lakh bonus to the player, who scored hundred and other cricketers individually. I think the total amount of bonus will be around Tk 35 lakh including bonus for the coaching staff," he added.

It is worth mentioning that Fargana Hoque was adjudged player of the series for her impressive performances with the bat. The batter compiled scores of 27, 47, and 107 runs, respectively, across the three ODIs against India.

BCB President evaded the question on poor Umpiring by citing laws of the game

Furthermore, the BCB president voiced his stance on the controversial remarks made by India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur following the conclusion of the game. Harmanpreet expressed her displeasure regarding the umpiring standards and also smashed the stumps after being given out during the contest.

"Cricket is such a game where everyone knows its rules and regulations and the entire world has witnessed what happened. So, we have nothing to say as there are rules and regulations and those will imply accordingly. We have nothing to say since there is a match referee and umpires and the ICC will take necessary steps. But I am happy to see that our girls didn't do anything such," he added.
