The Indian cricket's apex body, the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has invited applications for a member of the senior men's selection committee. The notice for the mentioned designation was posted via the board's official website which was further shared across their social media handles. Notably, the last date for the candidates to apply for the coveted post has been kept as June 30. Besides, the selected candidates will be interviewed to arrive at the final decision by the governing body.

Interestingly enough, BCCI has not specified anything regarding the chairman of the selection committee in their top job intimation. Hence, this may imply that the current chairman, Shiv Sundar Das may remain the chairman ahead. Speaking of his experience in the game, Das has represented India in 23 Tests. While the other members viz Salil Ankola (West), Subroto (Central) and S Sharath (South) do not have vast experience when it comes to on-the-field action.

Besides, should the BCCI fails to seal a big name from the North Zone, then the former Indian wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra is tipped to be another alternative as per the PTI. Notably, Ratra was interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), when Chetan Sharma was re-appointed. Amidst these, another interesting name popping up, the renowned BCCI panel commentator, Vivek Razdan may be roped in as he has a plethora of experience in watching domestic cricket while working on the air.

“If I am approached, I would be interested and it would be an honour to serve Indian cricket. But I believe that for a selector’s post, one should only apply if you are told to apply," Razdan was quoted as saying by News18.

In the same loop, the former Indian spinner Maninder Singh was also interviewed for the position, who had applied twice. However, after the first round of interviews, Singh did not receive the call for further screening process.

BCCI completed the selection for the Women's selection committee and Junior Cricket Committee

In another string of selections, the BCCI, recently, had released the vacancy for the Women's Selection Committee. Furthermore, the apex cricket governing body also sought applications for the Junior Cricket Committee. Notable personalities like Mr Jatin Paranjpe, Ms Sulakshana Naik and Mr Ashok Malhotra, who were leading the CAC conducted the screening for the above-mentioned vacancies.

Notably, the advisory committee also undisputedly recommended the names of Mr VS Thilak Naidu and Ms Shayama Dey Shaw for the Women and Junior cricket committees.
