England skipper Ben Stokes made an encouraging sight at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi, engaging in a lively bowling session during the morning nets. Reports suggest Stokes, who has been sidelined from bowling due to a knee injury, sent down deliveries for approximately 20 minutes. The all-rounder, buoyed by a swift recovery following knee surgery conducted by renowned surgeon Dr Andy Williams, hinted at a potential return to bowling in the upcoming Test match. Stokes, who last bowled during the ODI World Cup in India, had been advised against bowling by his doctor to avoid exacerbating his knee concerns.

The English team, trailing 2-1 in the five-match Test series against India, finds themselves in a precarious position. Despite clinching victory in the opening Test in Hyderabad, England's form has dwindled, with their recent performances lacking the spark witnessed earlier. The absence of substantial contributions from key players like Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow in the middle order has compounded England's struggles, necessitating a revival of their batting prowess.

Here's the video of Ben Stokes bowling in the nets:

England will aim to disrupt more than settled Indian batting lineup

On the contrary, the Indian team has showcased formidable resilience, with batsmen Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja delivering standout performances. Led by the relentless Jasprit Bumrah, India's bowling arsenal, including Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jadeja, has bolstered the team's stronghold in the series.

England's quest to reclaim their form and level the series hinges on a collective effort from their batting and bowling units. The return of Ben Stokes' bowling prowess could potentially provide the much-needed impetus to tip the scales in England's favour. As the series progresses, the spotlight remains on England's ability to counter India's formidable lineup and stage a compelling comeback on Indian soil.
