'Bowlers have combined the five fingers to make a fist this time' - Aakash Chopra hails bowling as India's biggest strength

The trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj have been incredible in the ongoing ODI World Cup. Siraj seems to have lost his mojo in the middle but the pacer is once again back at his best and will be key for the team in the semi-final clash against New Zealand on November 15 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Shami and Bumrah, on the other hand, have been a force to reckon with and that will give confidence to the team ahead of the blockbuster clash.

When it comes to the spin department, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav have done an incredible job as well and hence, former cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that bowling is India’s main strength going to the next round of the World Cup. He believes that the batters have done a commendable job throughout, especially scoring 410 runs against Netherlands in their last league match but it’s the bowlers who are a step ahead this time around.

“India's biggest strength - I will say the bowling, although all three parts are playing their roles properly. However, I feel we are doing the best job in bowling. Batters are fine, they are doing well, they scored 400-plus runs in the last match as well and we have seen them score 350-plus runs also. 

“However, it's the bowling. Bowling makes it absolutely exceptional. Suddenly you feel all boxes are ticked. India is a batting country, so we celebrate the batting, we produce very good batters as well, but the bowlers have combined the five fingers to make a fist this time,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Notably, Bumrah has 17 wickets while Shami and Jadeja have 16 wickets to their name respectively. Kuldeep Yadav picked up 14 wickets so far while Siraj has 12 to his name. Overall, India’s bowling unit has been remarkable but knockout matches often prove to be critical. The Rohit Sharma-led side needs to be alert all the time to challenge for their third world title in the 50-overs format.
