Roger Binny, the former India all-rounder and the current BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) president, has contradicted a scene from the movie '83.' '83' is a biographical sports drama film directed by Kabir Khan based on India's 1983 World Cup triumph. Ranveer Singh featured as the then-India captain Kapil Dev, while Deepika Padukone played the role of his wife Romi Dev.
Binny, who was also a part of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, stated that the '83' film portrayed the Indian players gazing in amazement at the West Indies squad while waiting for the bus in the airport upon arrival in England. The 67-year-old stated that such an event did not occur in reality and that the Windies players did not overawe them.
"The movie '83' shows us waiting for the bus in the airport upon arrival in England. The scene shows that as all the West Indies players go past us, we look at them in awe. But in reality, such a thing did not happen. We were not overawed by them," Binny told Sportstar.

Speaking of the game, West Indies invited India to bat first after winning the toss. Kapil Dev and Co. were bundled out for 183 runs as Andy Roberts took three wickets while Malcolm Marshall, Michael Holding, and Larry Gomes picked up two wickets each, and Joel Garner grabbed one.
Interestingly, India performed well in the second innings, restricting the Windies to 140 runs. Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath claimed three-wicket hauls, Balwinder Sandhu picked up two, while Kapil Dev and Roger Binny bagged one each as India registered a 43-run win in the summit clash.
