CSK board to meet over match-fixing allegations ahead of AGM

The five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Chennai Super Kings announced plans to hold a board meeting to address alleged match-fixing allegations that has surfaced against the franchise. The meeting will take place ahead of the franchise's Annual General Meeting scheduled for September 25. The board intends to discuss the matter and determine the franchise's response to the claims.
A Tehelka Special Investigation Team conducted an undercover sting operation from December 2025 to August 2026 that allegedly uncovered match-fixing claims linked to CSK. According to the investigation, a former Ranji player named Rachit Bhatia claimed he leaked CSK's playing XI to bookmakers during IPL 2025 through Snapchat communications with London-based bookmakers. Bhatia reportedly stated he received Rs 60 lakh per match for providing information, with claims of earning Rs 3 crore in total from the 2025 season.
"We have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) coming up. Our board will meet ahead of the AGM. We will discuss the matter," the CSK official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Tehelka investigation and alleged financial claims
Bhatia allegedly offered to arrange similar access to CSK's playing XI for the 2026 IPL season if a particular player he knew was selected in the auction. However, the player in question was not picked in the 2026 auction. The investigation also alleged that Bhatia provided playing XI information for a Delhi Premier League match on August 3 that matched the lineup announced for the Central Delhi Kings versus North Delhi Strikers fixture.
Vansh Bedi's response and background
Vansh Bedi, a 23-year-old cricketer, released a statement on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, condemning the allegations as false and defamatory. Bedi declared his intention to pursue legal recourse against the claims. Bedi had previously alerted the BCCI's Anti-Corruption Unit about a corrupt approach during the Delhi Premier League 2026, where he represented Central Delhi Kings. Bedi was purchased by CSK for Rs 55 lakh at the 2025 auction but missed the entire IPL season due to injury and went unsold at the 2026 mega auction.
Institutional stance on unverified allegations
CSK stated it maintains zero tolerance for corruption and described the allegations as unverified. The Delhi and District Cricket Association responded by stating that the allegations remain unverified and no competent authority has established them. The DDCA also wrote to the BCCI seeking guidance on the matter while clarifying that the allegations have not been verified by any official body.
