In the ongoing match (55) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK opener Devon Conway edged a Khaleel Ahmed’s delivery as wicket-keeper Salt picked up an easy catch. However, the on-field umpire didn’t hear anything and dismissed the appeal.

However, ace pacer Khaleel was convinced about the edge and asked skipper David Warner to take a review but the 36-year-old didn’t take one after consulting Salt. Notably, the 25-year-old pacer tried his best to convince Warner but the Australia international didn’t pay much attention to his appeal. Meanwhile, replays showed that Conway indeed nicked it but it was too little too late for the visiting team.

However, Conway couldn't prove to be dangerous as the New Zealand international managed to score only 10 runs off 13 deliveries. Left-arm orthodox Axar Patel got the better of him in the fifth over of the match as he failed to connect with the ball while playing a sweep shot.

Notably, he looked uncomfortable right from the start as the Delhi Capitals bowlers were all over him. He survived close calls on two different occasions before ultimately walking back to the pavilion.

Conway's captivating season in full flow

Conway has been the most consistent CSK batter in the entire tournament. In 11 matches so far, the 31-year-old has scored 458 runs at a strike rate of 139.20 and with that, he is currently fourth in the race for the IPL Orange Cap.

The southpaw has made quite a remarkable impact so far in the tournament, including 92* runs off 52 deliveries against Punjab Kings (Match 41) and 83 runs off 45 deliveries against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

When it comes to his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad, the 26-year-old once again failed to get going and could manage to score only 24 runs off 18 deliveries against Delhi Capitals in match 55. Overall, he started the season really well but has failed to make a mark in the last few games. Ahead of the business end of the tournament, CSK management will expect him to once again get back into form.
