Legendary West Indies cricketer Curtly Ambrose has revealed a player from the current generation he would love to bowl against and ace India batter Virat Kohli was at the top of the list. Ambrose was considered one of the greatest bowlers of his time. Having 630 wickets in his career, Ambrose established himself as one of the best in the business.
During his time, Ambrose troubled many greats of the game, and when asked about facing off against someone from the current generation, the former pacer named Kohli, Australian batting stalwart Steve Smith, and England’s Joe Root as players he would love to challenge with the ball. "Virat, Smith, Root," Ambrose was quoted as saying by IndiaToday.
Notably, Kohli, Root, and Smith have become real stalwarts of international cricket. Kohli has etched his name in history after he became the batter with the most ODI centuries to his name, breaking the record of Sachin Tendulkar. Furthermore, Root is closing in on Tendulkar’s Test record, as he is only behind by 3544 runs.
Wasim Akram is one of my favourite fast bowlers: Ambrose
Ambrose also talked about how batters dominated the current crop of cricketers. He highlighted how the batters have been overshadowing the bowlers in recent times, and when one is asked about their favourite player, they always tend to name a batter.
"Yes, I feel so sometimes. I have been in cricket for so long. Most of the time, if you ask someone their favourite cricketer, they would name a batter. I have played some great matches with them, and I admire them. But as a former fast bowler, I will lean towards the bowlers. Wasim Akram is one of my favourite fast bowlers," Ambrose said.
