England's dynamic batter, Dawid Malan, has etched his name in cricket history with a remarkable achievement in the ongoing ICC World Cup. During England's dominant performance against Bangladesh in the 7th match of the tournament, Malan showcased his swashbuckling prowess by amassing a breathtaking 140 runs off a mere 107 deliveries.

This stellar performance marked his sixth century in One Day Internationals, and in doing so, he has now set a new record as the fastest player to achieve this milestone in the aforementioned format. Malan achieved this extraordinary feat in just 23 innings, a testament to his incredible batting prowess and consistency.

What makes Malan's achievement all the more remarkable is the speed at which he has amassed his six centuries in One Day Internationals (ODIs), needing just 23 innings to surpass the likes of Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq, who took 27 innings to reach a similar milestone. Notably, Shubman Gill remains India's fastest in achieving six centuries in ODIs, having bagged it in 35 innings.

Malan enters the exclusive club of English centurions in World Cups

The England opener also joined English cricket history and engraved himself in the esteemed ranks of Graham Gooch and Andrew Strauss as one of only three English batters to smash a century in a World Cup game played on Indian soil. His century was adorned with a staggering 16 fours and five towering sixes.

The left-handed batter's innings was a masterclass in fearless batting, as he began his assault alongside Jonny Bairstow (52), crafting a formidable opening partnership of 115 runs in a mere 17 overs. But the 36-year-old's hunger for runs didn't stop there as he went on to forge a monumental 151-run alliance with Joe Root (82) for the second wicket, setting the stage for England to set a colossal total in the picturesque Dharamsala.

This remarkable feat has catapulted Malan into the exclusive club of English centurions in World Cup tournaments, alongside legendary names such as Denis Amiss, Graham Gooch, Andrew Strauss, Moeen Ali, Jason Roy, Joe Root, and Jonny Bairstow.
