Derbyshire County Cricket Club recently came forward to announce the signing of English seamer, Pat Brown, on a three-year deal. The pacer currently plays for Worcestershire and will be leaving the club once his contract ends. Being 24 years old, Brown is in the final year of his contract with Worcestershire and will not be extending it at the end of the season.

Brown has been an integral player for Worcestershire over the years. The pacer was presented with a cricket scholarship at the University of Worcester, where he completed a business management degree. Furthermore, his on-field achievements are in abundance as well.

Brown boasts 104 wickets with an economy of 9.53 in 85 domestic T20 matches. Furthermore, he has even represented England in four T20Is, where he has taken three wickets. He was also the leading wicket-taker in Worcestershire Rapids’ T20 Blast 2018 title win with 31 wickets throughout the tournament.

Generally a white ball bowler for Worcestershire, the 24-year-old will hope that he can get more county opportunities from his move to Derbyshire. The move also works in Derbyshire’s favour, as they secured the services of quite an exciting young pacer to boost their lineup.

I will be forever grateful to Worcestershire: Brown

After his move to Derbyshire was confirmed, Brown came forward to reflect on his time with Worcestershire. He opined that getting opportunities for the club was integral to his growth. He added that providing him with the chances at just 17 years old helped him become the player he is now and that he was saddened to take the decision.

"I will be forever grateful to Worcestershire for providing me with the opportunities, from the age of 17, that have shaped me into the cricketer and person I am today. There have been so many amazing times playing for Worcestershire throughout my seven years as a professional, an obvious highlight being the 2018 Vitality Blast triumph," Pat Brown was quoted as saying by Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

"I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of my teammates, coaches, support staff, and members for their unwavering support throughout my time at the club. It is with a heavy heart that I have taken the decision to leave, but New Road and Worcestershire have forever left their mark on me. I wish the club and everyone involved every success in the future," he added.
