Team India finished off their 2022 Asia Cup after beating Afghanistan in their last Super 4 match played at the Dubai International Stadium on September 8 (Thursday). Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli was superb with the bat as he completed an excellent century.

Indian batters put up a solid show in the competition, but some small mistakes in the previous games meant that the Men in Blue had to exit the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, former Indian batter and cricket expert Wasim Jaffer has opined that team India will be ruing themselves for not giving enough chances to the wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik.

Dinesh Karthik was dropped without any of his faults: Wasim Jaffer

Speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker, Jaffer said, "Dinesh Karthik was dropped without any of his faults. He didn't even bat in the matches he played. I suppose, he has bowled more deliveries today (against Afghanistan) than he has played with the bat. He played only ball in the tournament and bowled six deliveries in today's match."

"When he was not playing even Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravi Bishnoi were getting the chance to bat. I think team India will be hurt that they didn't show that trust in Dinesh Karthik," Jaffer added.

Talking about team India's last match in the Asia Cup 2022, Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi won the toss and opted to have a field first. Indian openers Virat Kohli and KL Rahul were excellent with the bat as they completed their respective fifties. As mentioned above, Kohli went on to stroke his 71st international century. Rishabh Pant also played a knock of 20 runs.

Chasing a 200+ target, Afghanistan batters crumbled, to say the least. Batter Ibrahim Zadran stroked an excellent fifty but that was not enough for his team. Senior pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar scalped a total of five-wicket and completed his good outing in the Asia Cup 2022.
