With the Ashes series round the corner, Cameron Bancroft is in sensational form and continues to push his case for it. Having not been selected for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bancroft is now banking on his sensational domestic form to secure a spot against England.

Bancroft is Sheffield Shield's leading run-scorer, with 767 runs at an average of 63.91 and four centuries to his name. Bancroft may have been hopeful to make his way into the team in David Warner’s injury-enforced absence, however, Australia opted with Travis Head as the replacement opener against India. Although, Head is not a long-term opening solution.

Bancroft recently came forward and suggested that he knows just what he needs to do to earn a recall to the Test team. He opined that he could not do anything more than go out there and do his best. Notably, he averages just 26.23 in 10 Tests so far, but but his recent form could ensure his place in the team for the Ashes.

Just playing well and doing the best I can' - Bancroft's plan to earn national team spot

"Just going out there and playing well and doing the best you can, Obviously, the Test team are away in India at the moment … what happens in the future with what I do there and in that space, I guess it's just about being present and playing what's in front of you now," Bancroft was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "That's something I'm really focused on doing and I'm sure all the other things will take care of themselves."

After not being considered for the series against India, Bancroft said that he has been following the games closely. "It's looked really challenging and obviously they've got some really good quality spinners. I'm sure the guys are really learning a lot over there," he said.
