England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler has penned a new three-year deal with Lancashire, which will see him stay at the Red Rose County until the end of the 2028 domestic season.

Buttler first joined Lancashire ahead of the 2014 season from Somerset. The right-handed batter has since become one of the most important players in the England squad, forming part of the 2019 World Cup-winning squad before captaining the Three Lions to the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

As part of his new deal, Buttler will represent Lancashire in the Vitality Blast, as it is the only tournament he plays in on the domestic level, apart from competing in The Hundred. This deal is run in parallel to the wicketkeeper's Central Contract with England.

“It always means a great deal to pull on the Red Rose. My international commitments mean I can’t be around as much as I’d like, but whenever I do get the chance to play or spend time with the group, it’s something I really value. Winning the Blast with Lancashire in 2015 was such a proud moment for myself and for the Club and it would be great to play my part in another success in the years ahead.  I’m delighted to extend my T20 contract and I’m looking forward to contributing on the field and helping the squad in any way I can in the push for Vitality Blast success over the next few seasons,” Jos Buttler said on Lancashire’s official website.

Buttler went on to play seven matches for Lancashire during last season’s Vitality Blast, where he scored 239 runs at a strike-rate of 143.97, with three half-centuries to his name. The Lightnings reached the Blasts Finals Day in 2025, only for them to lose to the eventual champions, Somerset, in the semi-finals.

Currently, Buttler is representing the Gujarat Titans in the 2026 Indian Premier League season, where they are set to play defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first Qualifier. The 35-year-old has hit 469 runs from 14 matches at a strike-rate of 155.29.
