The England cricket team has landed in Pakistan for the seven-match T20I series, ending their 17-year-long exile from the subcontinent nation. Their hiatus would've been halted last year, only for the team to pull out from the series at the last minute due to security concerns.
But Jos Buttler's men have arrived and are gearing up for what promises to be a hotly contested series as both teams eye a shift in momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup next month. While the conditions in Pakistan have not been kind to the residents owing to the financial struggles and heavy flooding, cricket is expected to bring joy to people's lives in these turbulent times.
Pakistan cricket team are still licking their wounds after a damaging defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka in the 2022 Asia Cup final as a spirited English side takes to the field in the hopes of turning around their fortunes in the shortest format of the game.
English white-ball skipper Jos Buttler is unlikely to feature in the series due to his calf injury, with his deputy Moeen Ali standing in for the injured charismatic batter. Karachi will host the first four T20Is before both teams travel to Lahore for the remaining three matches of the series.
