The former Australian left-arm speedster Nathan Bracken is all set to don a new career path. In what seems to be a political aspiration the former bowler will contest as a Liberal candidate in the upcoming election. It is worth mentioning that Bracken during his cricketing journey broke many records in the ODIs. The Aussie was the second quickest bowler to have scalped 100 wickets in the 50-over format.

Notably, the only Australian bowler to have shattered his record so far is none other than Mitchell Starc. Starc achieved the feat in 60 matches. Bracken majorly featured in the 50-over format whereby, after achieving the above mentioned record, he went on to feature in 56 ODIs and 19 T20Is, respectively. The New South Wales-born bid adieu to his ODI career with a decent average of 24.36 with an impressive economy rate of 4.41.

Moreover, the 37-year-old was a part of the Australia World Cup team in 2003 and 2007. Due to injury concerns related to knee, the quick decided to retire back in 2011. He featured in 116 ODIs for Australia in totality. Furthermore, Bracken sued Cricket Australia for not handling his injuries as per his satisfaction.

However, after questioning Cricket Australia on the basis of negligence and its conduct in what was billed as a contract breach, the case was settled. Since then, the Australian has remain engaged in cricket both as a player and as a commentator. Now, Bracken is finally moving ahead in a bid to have a political career.

Nathan Bracken will be aiming The Entrance on the Central Coast as a Liberal candidate. Notably, the 37-year-old attempted to run as an independent candidate, first in 2013 and then gave a second shot in 2017. Albeit, Bracken has not been successful in the both the stints so far.
