Australia lost the first two Test matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy after being dominated by the hosts. India did not give Aussies any chance to come back in the two matches. They won the first game by an innings and 132 runs and the second game by six wickets after the collapse of the Australian batting order in the second innings.

The one positive for Australia in this series has been the performance of 22-year-old Todd Murphy, who made his debut in the first Test. Murphy picked up seven wickets in the first Test and three in the second. Former Australian pacer Brett Lee opined that if Murphy keeps up these kinds of performances, then he could be the number-one spinner for the Aussies.

"Who after Nathan Lyon? Well, it looks like they found their answer in the young 22-year-old superstar off-spinner, Todd Murphy. What a sensational debut it was for Australia. Australia lost the match by a whopping margin, but Todd Murphy made the world sit up and take notice," Brett Lee said in a video on his YouTube channel.

"In the only innings that Australia bowled, he picked up 7/124. Five wickets were the wickets of KL Rahul, Ravi Ashwin, Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Ravi Jadeja. What a dream debut it was. He did so in the presence of his family all the way in Nagpur," he added.

Brett Lee also reflected on Todd Murphy’s connection to Shane Warne

Brett Lee also talked about the similarities between Shane Warne and Todd Murphy. The 22-year-old’s father used to play with Warne during his domestic cricket days. Lee opined that after his five-wicket haul against India, the spotlight will never stop shining on Murphy.

"His father reckons Todd Murphy has the finding qualities of Shane Warne. It’s a big call, and he’ll be tested at this level in times to come, but having become the 35th Aussie to take a five-wicket haul on debut, the spotlight would never stop chasing him in this series and thereafter," said Lee.
