The all-time leading run-scorer for South Africa Women in ODI cricket, Mignon du Preez has bid adieu from all formats of international cricket. The 33-year-old will continue to play T20 franchise leagues around the world and will be in action in the Hundred Women's tournament and the Women’s Big Bash league. She last played a T20I game in the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this year.

The wicketkeeper-batter played a total of 114 T20Is and amassed 1805 runs at an average of 20.98. She hit seven fifties in the same format and played a lot of impactful innings at the top for her side. Notably, Du Preez had already announced her retirement from ODI and Tests in April this year post South Africa’s fine run in the Women’s ODI World Cup.

She captained the country for a considerable period of time and recalled her journey from her debut in 2007.

"Fifteen years of international cricket, wow, what a blessing it has been," Du Preez was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

"It's never an easy decision to step away from something you love as much as I love cricket, but I know in my heart that the time is right for me to announce my retirement from all forms of international cricket.”

Extremely excited about the next phase of my life together: Mignon du Preez

Meanwhile Du Preez confirmed she will continue to play franchise cricket until she becomes a parent. She added about missing the dressing room conversations and noted her excitement for the next stage of her career.

"However, I will still continue to play the shorter format of the game in the global leagues until such a time that I am blessed to become a mom and start a family of my own...”

"I will definitely miss the change-room chats, the off-field friendships from all around the globe, travelling and learning about different cultures. However, I am extremely excited about the next phase of my life together with the ones that I love dearly and that have taken a back seat during the last 15 years of my career," she added.
