Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell cannot catch a break at the moment as the explosive batter sustained a wrist injury while representing Victoria in a Sheffield Shield game against South Australia. Maxwell was stationed in the slip cordon when he hurt his wrist and walked off the field after his injury.

Glenn Maxwell suffered a horrific leg injury at a birthday bash following the T20 World Cup in 2022. The all-rounder recently made his return to cricket after a successful stint in the Victorian Premier League. He did not make a significant contribution in the first innings after he was trapped in front of the wicket for just five runs.

However, things took a turn for the worse when the Aussie star was fielding in the slips and hurt his wrist while attempting a catch. The ball had taken the outside edge of the batter and bounced right in front of Maxwell, hitting the Aussie flush on his wrist. The all-rounder trodded off the field, wincing in pain while holding his injured wrist.

According to reports, the Australian star was taken to a local hospital for scans in the aftermath of his injury. A Cricket Victoria spokesman has confirmed that scans have not revealed any fracture, giving a huge sigh of relief to the high-profile cricketer. However, the 34-year-old's further participation in the match remains a doubt, given his recent struggles with injuries.

The Victorian will be hoping that he can recover from his latest setback quickly, with his eyes set on a return to the national team. While the Australian team are currently engaging in a four-match Test series against India, they will take part in a three-match ODI series next month against the same opponents. Maxwell is eyeing the white-ball series against India for making his much-awaited return to international cricket.
