Goa Tourism Department sends notice to Yuvraj Singh for owning unregistered property in the state

Veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has been served a legal notice by the Goa Tourism Department for allegedly owning an unregistered property in the state. As per reports, Yuvraj owns a villa named ‘Casa Singh’ which is situated in Varchawada at Morjim, North Goa.

The tourism department had reportedly issued a notice to the two-time World Cup winner last Friday i.e. on November 18 for his failure to get the villa registered before putting it up for homestay online.

Meanwhile, the state tourism department has also shared Yuvraj Singh’s tweet as a solid evidence. In September this year, the southpaw took to social media and talked about hosting an exclusive stay at his Goa residence.

Goa Tourism Department takes strict action against Yuvraj Singh

The recent notice issued to Yuvraj by  Deputy Director of Tourism Rajesh Kale was a reminder that any person who wants to use their properties in the state for commercial purposes must first get them registered by the concerned authorities.

Furthermore, Yuvraj Singh has been asked to be present before the authority for a personal hearing on December 8 at 11 AM IST  in order to justify his actions. The notice also adds that the cricketer will have to face dire consequences if he fails to show up on the said date. The department has clearly stated that the former middle-order batter will have to pay a fine which may extend upto INR 1 lakh if the legal notice is dishonored.

Statement of the notice served to Yuvraj Singh

"Every person intending to operate a Hotel/Guest House before operating it, has to apply for registration to the Prescribed Authority in the Prescribed manner."

"Therefore, notice is hereby given to you as to why penal action should not be initiated against you for default in registration under the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, 1982.”

"Further, you are directed to appear before the undersigned on 08.12.2022 at 11:00 am. in the chamber of the Prescribed Authority for a personal hearing, to defend your interest.”

"If no reply is received within the said date mentioned in this Notice, it will be assumed that the grounds mentioned in this notice are correct and on such assumption under Section 22 or in violation of any of the provisions of this Act you shall be punishable with a fine which may extend upto ₹ 1 lakh.”
