Anil Kumble, former star spinner, voiced his support for Kuldeep Yadav's selection to the Test team. Kumble thinks that Kuldeep should be given a chance to demonstrate his abilities in the longest format of the game as Kuldeep has already proved himself as a crucial member of the team with an amazing record of 34 wickets in eight Test matches that he has got to play.

Kumble commended Kuldeep's past performances in Test matches, having taken three five-wicket hauls in the limited opportunities he has got. The former spinner also expressed his concern about the lack of wrist spinners in Test cricket, despite their prevalence in white-ball formats.

"He should definitely be there because he is a very good bowler. Leg-spinners are very attacking bowlers and it is also difficult at times, they concede runs as well but you need to take a leg-spinner along with you and groom him, and whenever you get a chance, he should be given an opportunity," said Kumble, On Jio Cinema, emphasizing the importance of having a leg-spinner in the team.

"Kuldeep Yadav is a very good spinner for Test matches. He has given very good performances whenever he has got a chance as well. There are a lot of wrist spinners in white-ball formats. We are not getting to see them much in Test matches," Kumble explained.

Kumble recommends keeping Kuldeep with Ashwin, Jadeja, and Patel

Kumble hailed the impressive performances of Ashwin, Jadeja, and Patel, highlighting their quality as spin bowlers and their abilities with the bat as well. He further suggested that Kuldeep Yadav should be kept alongside them in the squad, emphasizing the formidable strength and depth of India's spin department.

Now, India is leading the series 1-0 and will take on West Indies on July 20 at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain in the second Test. The decision about Kuldeep's inclusion in the Test squad is still up in the air because the selection committee and team management have regularly favored Ashwin, Jadeja, and Patel in spin-friendly conditions due to their all-around performances.

Kumble's suggestion of Yadav's inclusion in India's Test team adds weight to the discussion surrounding the team's spin-bowling options. Kuldeep's exceptional talent and previous performances warrant consideration, and his addition could further strengthen India's already formidable spin attack.
